Director Of Communications and Marketing 🔥


The Communications and Marketing Director supports the Shambhala Board and Shambhala Global Services in developing, managing and delivering communications to and about the Shambhala community and creating marketing initiatives that increase awareness and participation in Shambhala programming.

 

The Communications and Marketing Director is responsible for:

  • Managing and developing effective messaging regarding Shambhala’s plans, offerings, activities, and accomplishments
  •  Coordinating responses to press enquiries in consultation with the Shambhala Board
  • Oversight and management of organization-wide communications and communications platforms, including website content, email, communications calendars, and translation services
  • Responsible for managing Shambhala’s communication content creation, routing and approval process
  • Managing the Shambhala Times editorial content and oversight of content submissions and workflow
  • Oversight of branding, imagery, logo usage and “voice” of organization
  • Creating internal and external marketing plans to improve programming visibility across Shambhala paths of study
  • Providing branding, point-of-sale, and user-need guidance to digital initiatives;
  • Providing guidance with online moderation of Shambhala Network and associated online use policies
  • Managing social media content;
  • Managing Shambhala.org website content in coordination with SGS department needs
  • Maintaining/presenting digital Marketing seminars for Shambhala leaders         
  • Annual and long-term including developing the organization’s Annual Report
  • Supporting the annual Shambhala Day broadcast
  • Managing and supporting organization-wide webinars
  • Supervising the Communications Administrative Assistant.

 

Required Skills – The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal English skills; excellent analytical skills to solve problems and find the best way to convey a message; ability to create engaging content; three years minimum professional experience with press relations, digital marketing and communications in the non-profit sector, and online publishing; and professional expertise with the following technical platforms: Zoom, MailChimp, WordPress, Google Documents; Adobe Creative Suite knowledge preferred but not required. The successful candidate will have the ability to consider multiple and competing perspectives, as well as have organizational and interpersonal skills that promote effective teamwork and creative problem-solving.


Preferred Educational Background -  A Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a related field.  A Master’s degree in communications, journalism or business is a strong plus.


Desired Skills – Familiarity with Shambhala teachings and culture and the Shambhala Database is highly valued. Being fluent or familiar with other languages is also valued. 


Hours – This position is full time (35 hours/week)


Benefits – Four weeks paid vacation per year.

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

 

Reporting – The position reports to the Director of Operations and enjoys direct engagement with the Shambhala Board of Directors.
