Digital Media Specialist 🔥


The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights invites applications for the Digital Media Specialist based in Washington, D.C. The Digital Media Specialist will lead the creation of all digital content for the Young Center’s website and social media platforms. In addition, they will develop and implement a comprehensive digital media strategy, curate content for social media campaigns, and monitor online engagement. The Digital Media Specialist will play an integral role in increasing the Young Center’s visibility, increasing the attention of foundations, individual supporters and donors, ultimately advancing the goals of the Young Center’s child advocate and policy programs. This position will report to Communications Manager.


ABOUT THE YOUNG CENTER

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights is a national organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights and best interests—safety and well-being—of immigrant children in the United States. The immediate focus of the Young Center’s work is to serve as Child Advocate (guardian ad litem for children in immigration proceedings) for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children pursuant to the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act and the 2013 Violence Against Women Act. Our role is to identify and advocate for the best interests of immigrant children both while they are in federal custody and after they are released, applying federal and state law and long-recognized principles of the best interests of the child. The Young Center also does policy work, advocating with legislators, federal agencies and other stakeholders to promote consideration of the best interests of the child in all decisions concerning immigrant children and to create a dedicated juvenile immigrant justice system that treats children as children. The Young Center is headquartered in Chicago and has programs in Houston, San Antonio, Harlingen, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Phoenix, and Los Angeles.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Young Center’s website and social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube).
  • Curate and manage the posting of all social media content across the Young Center digital media.
  • Create and edit short videos for events, email communication, website and social media.
  • Develop social media strategy to promote special events, trainings, policy related campaigns and webinars.
  • Monitor digital engagement and implement social media strategic plan to increase online presence, visibility and followers.
  • Analyze and report on social media analytics to the Young Center’s leadership team.
  • Design and develop email content for donors, supporters, monthly e-newsletter, action alerts and e-blasts.
  • Keep a pulse on current social media trends and best practices to inform short- and long-term digital media plan.
  • Support Communications Manager to launch advocacy and fundraising campaigns.
  • Create and nurture a social media network of appropriate public figures and influencers and utilize to highlight organization’s mission and work.
  • Manage webinar platforms and assist in development of visual presentations for department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in managing social media platforms, developing digital media content and
  • publications.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to translate the Young Center’s mission and work into accessible, creative content for various stakeholders and audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortability working with non-creatives in a highly collaborative environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Intermediate ability in editing short videos for social media
  • Knowledge of email marketing in a non-profit setting
  • Self-starter, resourceful and creative problem solver

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/interest in children’s/immigrant rights.

Experience working with justice focused, mission driven non-profit organizations.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands include regular attendance, keyboarding, sitting for long periods (at least 5 hours a day), driving. Ability to use computer, telephone, and copy machine. Ability to travel by plane, car and other conveyances within U.S. Occasional lifting for event setup/preparation.
