Remote Office Assistant 🔥


Our team is seeking an experienced individual to assist the organization in various aspects, working with the office manager and legal team. This is a part-time, remote position at 20-30 hours per week, with the availability to travel to Monterey, CA once a month or quarterly, as needed. We are paper free office and maintain a virtual law office management system. You must reside in California.

Our team also works directly with our sister affiliate organization, Healing and Reconciliation Institute, which is a 501c(3), to work with indigenous centered healing and offer nonprofit assistance to Tribes locally. We assist tribes in getting nonprofit status and exemption, and also tribes who are nonprofits, maintain compliance and assist with landback. As of this year our office is transitioning to add a significant portion of our services to help indigenous people and assist Tribes both federally recognized and unrecognized.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Must be available to work at least three weekdays a week during partial business hours
  • Manages attorney calendar to schedule meetings with staff, contractors and clients
  • Performs clerical duties, including, but not limited to, preparing payrolls, placing orders, invoicing and answering and returning calls
  • Interacts with clients, visitors, and vendors via phone or email
  • Maintains accurate records and enters data
  • Assists with organizing events or other engagements when necessary
  • Assists in setting up new client accounts
  • Attends weekly meetings
  • Maintains accounts payable and receivable
  • Engages in educational opportunities as needed
  • Manages program-related internal and external communication, including newsletters and website updates
  • Performs additional duties and special projects when required, including, but not limited to, correspondence, accounting and email maintenance for foundation

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Must reside in California
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain a strict level of confidence
  • Bookkeeping and project management skills a plus
  • Demonstrate knowledge of some or all of the following softwares: Canva, G Suite, Microsoft Office, DocuSign, Zoom, Calendly, Adobe, Mail Chimp, Quickbooks Online and Clio Management
