Volunteer: Migraine & Recurring Headaches Patient Advisory Board Member
At the centre of everything we do are our users. That’s why we work with the experts who know best what solutions for young people with chronic pain should look like – young people themselves, their families & doctors. Patient Board members are volunteers who actively shape the Happyr Health app with their feedback. Are you interested in becoming a patient board member?
Please send us an email atand we will be in touch soon!
How important is the patient board role?
The patient board role is probably the most important for Happyr Health. Without young people with chronic pain, we have no reason to exist.
What does the patient board role look like?
The role of a member in the patient board is about communication. Crucially your feedback, ideas and needs will help shape the app. In practice, this means that we, as the founders of Happyr Health, ask you questions from time to time. This could be through a short survey or a link for testing an app feature or an occasional video call to discuss bigger changes and more detailed feedback.
How much commitment is the role?
This is up to you and your schedule! Many of our questions can be answered with a short chat message or testing link. If there is a relevant change in the app development, like a brand new feature, we would hold a joint video meeting. A video meeting will take about 30-60 minutes of your time and will probably take place every 4-6 weeks. We promise to never waste your time!
What if I am too busy?
We fully understand that! The patient board roles are voluntary, take the time you need. We want to make your life easier and not be an added burden to your already busy schedule.
If for any reason you no longer feel able to participate in the board please just reach out to a member of the team.
As a patient board member what’s in it for me?
First of all, access to the Happyr Health app which we hope will make your life a lot easier! You will also get to shape the app through your input, decisions and feedback and get a first look at new product features and ideas. You will get to see and actively shape ideas from as early as the paper prototype stage through development from start to completion.
As a patient board member you are taking on an important role and your involvement will help many other young people with chronic pain. That’s why we are not shy to thank you, we are happy to provide the references you need for your next internship or job application or to pick up the phone and advocate for you.
Who else is on the board?
In fact, we have several patient boards. Each board consist of 3-8 members with similar backgrounds. For example, for young people with migraine, we work with four separate groups. One group is made up of school children and another is made up of their parents. There is also a student group and a young professional group to give feedback as the patients over 18.
You probably live or care for someone with chronic pain. At the same time, you want to take an active role in your own or your child’s pain management and believe in improving it together!
Who will I be dealing with?
Most of the time you will be in contact with either Nicola or Cornelius, the two founders of Happyr Health. Sometimes, Eduardo will communicate with you. He is our technician, who implements the mobile app as you co-create it. If you wish, you can also participate in group discussions with other members of your patient board. Maybe you can inspire each other by brainstorming or sharing tips for everyday life.
Are patient boards mandatory? Is this a tick box exercise?
Patient boards are very important. Only through patient feedback can we put the well-being, needs and satisfaction of our users first. Unfortunately, patient boards are not mandatory for companies, even though they offer such a great benefit for everyone. Patients are still not involved enough in the health sector; we are changing that together.
How can I get involved?
We are excited that you would like to become part of a patient board. Please send us an email at. We look forward to meeting you soon!
